Holiday Concert Takes Place This Friday!

Mark your calendars! This year's holiday concert is Friday, December 9, at 7:00pm at the Waverly High School Auditorium. The venue was moved due to the September flooding. The world-renowned Singing Boys of Pennsylvania will be performing! The event is free and open to the public, but donations are welcome. We hope to see you this Friday!

Book Presentation and Signing at TCCA

As part of Owego's third Friday ArtWalk/ArtTalk on Friday, December 16, at 6:00, TCCA will host a book presentation and signing by Mary Jordan and Joyce Hatch in celebration of their new book Dear Friend Amelia. Jordan and Hatch are local historians who have lived in the Speedsville area most of their lives. Don't miss this opportunity to meet the authors of a revealing book on John Tidd's first-hand account as a private in the 109th New York Volunteer Infantry during the the Civil War.

TCCA's Planning Something Fishy

It's an appearance by Doug's Fish Fry at the Value Home Store parking lot on December 21 from 11:00 to 6:00! If you've never had Doug's Fish Fry you're in for a treat. Choices include fish sandwiches, shrimp, and scallops. Dinners include homemade fries and coleslaw. We know you'll be busy preparing for the holidays, so take a break from cooking and treat yourself and your family to some delicious fish from Doug's. You'll be supporting TCCA at the same time!

Home Tour & Auction is This Saturday!

TCHS Museum Fundraiser on November 12

The Tioga County Historical Society Museum presents their annual fundraiser "O Tannenbaum" on Saturday, November 12. This year's event is more important than ever. The museum suffered extensive flood damage in September as a result of Tropical Storm Lee. Although they've made great progress in their recovery efforts, they still have a long way to go. Support the museum, and their recovery, by attending Saturday's event!

This month's featured artist at the ArtSpace Gallery is Sue Whiting. Stop by to see Sue's nature-inspired acrylic and mixed media paintings! You can also meet Sue in person at the third Friday ArtWalk/ArtTalk on November 18!

Home Tour and Auction is Still On!

Our 31st Annual Home Tour and Auction is scheduled for Saturday, December 3. The afternoon tour starts at 1:00pm and costs $15. The evening tour begins at 6:00pm and costs $20. Immediately following the evening tour, the auction will take place at 8:30pm at the Elks Lodge in Owego. Come on out and tour three beautiful and historic Owego homes while sampling delectable desserts and savory wines. This year's auction will also feature The Great TCCA Basket Raffle! Support TCCA and the Owego community by joining us for the tours and purchasing raffle tickets!

Arts, Antiques & Crafts Fair Scheduled for November 20 at Owego Elks

The Owego Rotary Club will hold its Third Annual Arts, Antiques & Crafts Fair on Sunday, November 20, from 8:00am to 3:00pm at the Owego Elk’s Lodge at the corner of Church and Front Streets in Owego. Over 30 artisans and vendors will be selling unique arts and crafts. It's a perfect time to shop for the upcoming holidays! The Owego Elk’s will have their Antiques Emporium in the lower level of the lodge and there will also be barbecued chicken available. Come on down and spend the day in Owego!

ArtWalk/ArtTalk is Back!

Owego's third Friday ArtWalk event is resuming on a limited basis on Friday, October 21 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. As a minimum, Black Cat Gallery, Katie's Kreation, Riverow Bookstore, and TCCA are participating. Black Cat is featuring refreshments and spooky stories from the Ithaca Storytellers, and TCCA is also offering refreshments as well as wonderful paintings done by the A-Team from the Special Olympics. This exhibit is dedicated to the memory of the late Gae Crosby, a long time supporter of the Special Olympics.

TCCA REOPENS!

TCCA has reopened with limited hours and is looking forward to servicing the community with its ongoing programs and events. In the next few weeks we'll announce our plans for the Holiday Concert, Home Tours and Auction, and "Always on Sunday" performances. Thanks to everyone for their continued support. It's good to be back!

TCCA Hopes to Re-Open Monday, September 26

The recent flooding has devastated the village of Owego. However, the outpouring of support, donations, and help from volunteers has been truly inspiring. Through the support of friends and community members, TCCA has made progress in our recovery efforts. We anticipate re-opening on Monday, September 26, at 10:00am. THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this possible!

TCCA Hit Hard by Recent Flooding

This past week's flooding has hit our area hard. 98% of the village of Owego was under water, and that includes TCCA. If you'd like to aid us in our clean-up efforts, we could sure use the help. Donate your time and help us get back up and running! Anyone interested in volunteering should call Annette at 765-4384. We're down, but we're not out!

Hickory Smoked Music Festival a Big Success

Nearly 1,000 people attended the Hickory Smoked Music Festival held this past weekend at the Hickories Park in Owego. From local favorites "Hover" and "Hi-Way Fruit Market" to nationally and internationally acclaimed musicians Big Bill Morganfield and Michael Burks, the audience enjoyed a beautiful summer day filled with great blues music. Stay tuned for information on next year's event!

ArtWalk!

Downtown Owego's ArtWalk

Happens This Friday, July 15

 

Local merchants and artists collaborate the third Friday of every month with ArtWalk, an evening of shopping and art. Local shops and galleries offer extended hours, from 5:00 to 9:00pm, so that visitors can appreciate the shopping and art experience.

 

This Friday's ArtWalk will include the works of local photographers and will expand to Draper Park on Front St., one of the entrances to Owego's new RiverWalk. Local photographers will include Kathy Place, Robert Och, Jim Danvers, and Vince Engbith to name a few.

En Plein Air 2011

TCCA is pleased to announce that En Plein Air, a juried art show of two- and three-dimensional fine art, will take place on August 20 at the Riverwalk Park in historic downtown Owego. The deadline for submissions is July 29. Ribbon Cutting at our June 29 Concert in the Park!

Town of Owego Supervisor, Don Castellucci, will be on hand for a ribbon cutting at the first concert in our "Concerts in the Park" series. The Kirby Band will take the stage after the ribbon cutting. Stick around after the concert for a spectacular fireworks display. Gramp's concessions will be selling yummy snacks throughout the evening's events.

This Wednesday is the Kick-Off to Concerts in the Park!

Our annual Concerts in the Park series begins this Wednesday, June 29, at 7:30pm at the Hickories Park in Owego. The Kirby Band from Nichols will be performing a variety of music, from Joplin to Sousa, from big bands to the big screen, and from the early 1900s through the new millennium. There's sure to be something for everyone. Following the concert (at dark) there will be a fireworks display. These concerts are free, but we always welcome free-will donations. Bring your lawn chair and a picnic dinner and relax to the sounds of the Kirby Band. The Owego Elks Lodge #1039 will have a concession stand offering hot dogs, burgers, soft drinks, and more. Bring some extra money along to enter our 50-50 raffle. We'll see you Wednesday at the Hickories Park!

Good news! The Hickories Park will be open and ready for our Concerts in the Park! The Town of Owego folks really worked hard to clean up and repair the damage caused by this spring's flooding.
